The College was established in the year 1979 by Late Prof. Raghunath Pd. Sharma who nurtured this institution with personal care and foresight. Under his imaginative, dynamic and able guidance the college made immense progress during the past four decades. At present R.P.S. College is considered as one of the prestigious and reputed institutions under the jurisdiction of Patliputra University.

R.P.S. College is an important constituent of the Patna Educational Development Trust which is the biggest Educational Trust in Bihar. The College has been working profusely with the sole and pious goal of promoting the cause of real and meaningful education in the educationally backward State of Bihar. The College runs multiple courses across different streams for students to opt from and make a bright and meaningful career for themselves. At RPS we focus not only on the academic amelioration of our students but work on the broader perspective of instilling within our students the values which motivates them to work for the better of the society and nation. All the other educational institution managed by the Patna Educational Development Trust have been functioning with the common motive, and the credit for their remarkable contribution towards the society goes directly to the pioneering zeal, enthusiasm and selfless service of Late Prof. Raghunath Pd. Sharma, the founder Chairman of the Patna Educational development trust.

Sadly, his sudden departure for heavenly abode on 2nd Nov.2000 has created a void on the education horizon of our State. Albeit he will always be remembered with veneration for years to come for his outstanding contribution in the realm of education. His great vision and good spirit inspires us to be a valiant fighter for the cause of righteousness.
